Iskes Towage & Salvage celebrates its 50th birthday and names twin Damen ASD Tugs 3212 Mars, Mercurius and Hybrid Eddy Tug 24-75 Telstar.

Three Iskes vessels were officially named at a ceremony held in September ’18 at IJmuiden Port, Amsterdam. The vessels are the Damen ASD Tugs 3212 Mars, Mercurius and the Eddy Tug 24-75 Telstar. The naming formed part of an event held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Iskes Towage & Salvage, which was formed by Ben Iskes in 1968.

Mars was named by Elisabeth Post, Deputy for Transport and Traffic for the Province of North Holland and Mercurius was named by Miss Leonie Vergouwen, daughter of managing director Ronald Vergouwen. The third tug Telstar, built by Holland Shipyards, was officially named by Daisy Schut, partner of the captain of the local professional football team ‘Telstar’.

The ceremony and celebrations were attended by the Iskes staff, Iskes seafarers, clients and many other associates who have worked alongside the company over the years.
Jim Iskes, Owner Iskes Towage & Salvage: “we are very grateful for the trust and support of our customers in Iskes. I also want to thank all our employees, without them we would not be able to celebrate our 50th anniversary.”
The celebrations were held on the Ijmuiden docks in the area where the Iskes tugs, operational in the Ijmuiden area, usually come alongside.

The party was a great success, almost 500 national & international guests celebrated the name giving ceremony and 50th anniversary of Iskes. With lots of tasteful food, drinks, good conversations and local artists with performances it was a day to remember!
